A patient has recounted a positive experience they had with self-care at a practice.
The patient had access to all of their GP records online. This gave the person a great deal of confidence as, wherever they travelled, all the medical information needed was available.
In a report on the BMA website, the patient said: “All I need is a computer or my smart phone with an access app. I leave information for “rescuers” on the lock screen of my phone. Looking up information for myself instead of ringing the practice is wonderfully convenient.
I have regular blood tests to monitor my medications. I can check my results online and take them down to my consultants so there is no need to ring the practice or have tests repeated. Repeat prescriptions are so easy; a few key presses and the pharmacy delivers. I never run out of important meds.”
