  • Raising concerns

    NHS England has produced guidance on raising concerns for primary care providers following the report of the Freedom to Speak Up review chaired by Sir Robert Francis QC.

  • Medical notes requests from police

    The BMA professional fees committee has received new legal advice regarding medical note requests received from the police.

  • Firearms requests

    From 1 April 2016 new information sharing processes between GPs and the police were introduced in an attempt to ensure those licensed to possess firearm and shotgun certificates are medically fit to carry arms.

    The Government’s Health and Social Care Bill became law after receiving Royal Assent on 27 March 2012. The legislation – first published as a white paper in July 2010 – is known as the Health and Social Care Act (2012).
